The members of the 33rd New Jersey Volunteer Infantry Regiment marched into Sussex County last weekend and set tents on the banks of Route 517 in Sparta. The Civil War re-enactors came to the area at the invitation of the Sparta Historical Society. Area residents and students visited the encampment and watched demonstrations of life in the 1800s by the soldiers and their civilian companions. The 33rd Regiment is comprised of area men and women. The re-enacment group is currently recruiting new members. Anyone interested can contact Phil Cocilovo at pcfoxfire@hotmail.com (Photos by Mario Palomo)
