A fun-filled family tradition returned to Stillwater on Labor Day as participants kayaked, biked and ran in Paulinskill Lake.

The High Noon Triathlon has become a Labor Day tradition as friends and families team up to enjoy the lake and the day.

A few locals kicked off this year’s event. Andre deWaal of Hampton gave a warm welcome.

Kevin Hannah of Hampton talked about the course description, and Jack Choma of Stillwater recited some words to have fun by.

The Star Spangled Banner topped off the opening.

First up were the kayakers who left the beach by the Stillwater dam of Paulinskill Lake.

The particpants then rounded a buoy in the middle of the lake returning while paddling against the wind and finally back to shore.

"It was tough, especially coming back against the wind," said Dave Carter of Stillwater.
