Council meets one day early due to Election Day

Byram. The Township Council met on Monday, Nov. 4 to allow for voting to take place in the municipal building on Tuesday, Nov 5. Although the meeting was brief, there are several items of note for residents.

    Loans available

    Four interest-free home improvement loans are now available through the Byram Housing Rehabilitation program, and applications will be considered on a first-come, first-serve basis. For more information on the eligibility criteria and to fill out a pre-application form, visit the town’s website at www.byramtwp.org and click the Byram Township Housing Rehabilitation Program link on the News & Noteworthy page.

    Veteran’s Day

    The town’s annual Veteran’s Day service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 11, 2019, at the monument in front of the Roseville Schoolhouse on Mansfield Drive. The public is encouraged to attend the ceremony followed by a reception. Former Mayor and Town Judge Richard Bowe, a veteran of the Army Security Agency, is expected to speak.

    Historical Society

    The Byram Historical Society is seeking both new members and speakers for their meetings, which are held quarterly. The group also participates in various civic events throughout the year. Anyone interested in joining the Historical Society or becoming a presenter should contact Councilman Scott Olson at solson@byramtwp.org.

    New medical facility

    Byram residents are advised that the new Atlantic Health facility in the ShopRite Plaza is now open. The clinic offers primary care physicians, a full laboratory, and walk-in urgent care.

    Meeting date

    Residents should be advised that November’s second town council meeting will also be held on a Monday due to scheduling conflicts at the municipal building. That meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 18, 2019, and the public is encouraged to attend.
