— Sparta UNICO hosted it’s annual Golf Outing in Memory of Jack Schaff on Monday, June 18 at Wild Turkey Golf Club in Hamburg. Temperatures that topped 95 degrees along with high humidity did not stop 75 golfers from completing 18 holes for the worthy cause.
“The event went on without a hitch. The constant gentle Vernon winds over the Wild Turkey golf course at Crystal Springs gave the group some relief, “ said Ray Shupak, Sparta UNICO President.
The Italian-American service organization UNICO chose to benefit Matthew Kirkman, a young family member of the Schaff Family who is battling cancer. Festivities included Matt and his parents and family members playing golf followed by the dinner event including door prizes and a raffle.
The non-profit organization is grateful to local businesses and individuals who donated items.
"Sparta UNICO's Jack Schaaf Charity Golf Outing raised approximately $15,000 towards its charity this year. Every year, Sparta UNICO runs their outing with the intent of helping someone who needs some love and financial help,” said Shupak.
