BYRAM Third grade students from Green Hills School visited the ShopRite of Byram for the Young Consumer Day program. They were charged with the task of shopping for a family of four on a $100 budget, with particular emphasis on nutritious food when making their selections. Valuable life skills like budgeting, money handling, critical thinking and problem solving are incorporated into the program. Students learn how to plan meals, weigh produce, read labels, use a calculator and function as an adult with practical exercises to help them learn. RoNetco Supermarkets has been hosting the Young Consumer Day program for dozens of schools in Sussex, Morris and Warren counties for a nearly a decade.
