Newton Police Department

On Nov. 27 Newton Police officer John Flanagan was on routine patrol and saw a suspicious car parked in the Pine Street Park. An investigation led to the arrest of the vehicle's two occupants, Cory Mendola, age 19, of Newton and Alexis Williams, age 19, of Newton, for admittedly smoking marijuana. As a result, they were charged with possession of marijuana, use/being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in vehicle. Each were processed and released pending an appearance in Newton Municipal Court.
