NEWTON — The Perfect 10 Nail and Hair Boutique in Newton opened on Dec. 12 in its new location at 103 Spring St. Owner Judi Keba is a nail technician and make-up artist who has worked in Newton for the past 15 years. Prior to this, the salon was located at the Springboard Shoppes of Newton at 145 Spring St. The Springboard Shoppes is an incubator concept allowing retailers to start a business in a feasible and economic way. Low rents and management training allows owners to cultivate their businesses and eventually move to a permanent space. “The Spring Board Shoppes provided me with a great opportunity a year and a half ago to open my own business — it was a nice way to get started. The business has grown, so in December we went from 350 square feet to 620 square feet at our new storefront location,” said Keba. Offering a range of services from hair styling to nail art, Keba caters to men, women and children. And custom-blended foundation and make-up is a unique offering at The Perfect 10. “Hair color is very popular. We use top quality products and we are reasonably priced. Color starts at $55 which includes a cut and blow dry,” she said. A haircut is $28 and a manicure starts at $18. In addition to getting more space, Keba is also excited about adding more staff: “I am proud to announce that Sherrie Bostrom formerly of a salon in Sparta has joined our salon. She has over 15 years of experience with a great clientele. Sherrie is a very dedicated stylist and barber to her clients and co-workers and is available Wednesday through Saturday.” Keba fashions her salon as a hometown place with hard working people where customers can come and look great at a reasonable price.
