Squad honors its EMTs, installs new officers

    STANHOPE/NETCONG-On Jan. 8, the Stanhope Netcong American Legion Ambulance Corp held its annual Installation of Officers Dinner Dance at the Adam Todd in Byram. The elected officers for 2005 are Captain Bob De Dolce, Alice Corrigan as lieutenant, and Instructor/Secretary Lorrie Lesko. Other elected positions include Treasurer Kenneth Newstead, Engineer Bill Hart and President Glyn Davies. During the event, officials released the squad's annual call report. In 2004, the volunteer squad answered 799 calls - 237 in Stanhope, 335 in Netcong, 80 standbys and 147 out of town calls. The total miles traveled during the year were 12,343 miles, and man-hours volunteered totaled 3,320 hours and 45 minutes. The event also served to honor the squad's top members. Bill Hart, John Esposito and Kenneth Newstead received plaques for answering the most calls. Hart responded to 541 calls during the year, Esposito responded to 500 calls and Newstead answered 419 calls. Mike Truglio received a plaque in recognition for his service as captain in 2004. In addition, John Esposito received a pin commemorating his 35 years of service. The Member of the Year Award went to the squad Instructor Alice Corrigan.
