Always Patsy Cline to open Tri-State Theater season April 13

    Sussex - Tri-State Actors Theater opens its fourth season April 13 at the historic Crescent Theater with the popular hit musical, Always Patsy Cline. Actors’ Equity members Gwen Walker and Suzanne Hayes will reprise their roles of Patsy and Louise in the show, which will run through April 30. Always.Patsy Cline, by Ted Swindley, has enjoyed success throughout the U.S., including a run off-Broadway. The musical includes many of Cline’s hit songs, such as Crazy, I Fall to Pieces, Sweet Dreams and Waking After Midnight. Jessica Arnold, music director and keyboard player, leads the Bodacious Bobcats, Cline’s band. The next Tri-State production will be Rounding Third, a tumultuous comedy depicting the journey of two Little League coaches through an entire season. From their first tentative meeting to the climactic championship game, the two men battle over how to lead the team. Written by Richard Dresser, playwright, father and Little League coach, Rounding Third raises questions about how we raise our children, and what it means to be an American man. Rounding Third will run from June 8 through June 25. The classic Winnie the Pooh stories and poetry by A.A. Milne provide the basis for Winnie the Pooh, a Musical, meant to enchant both children and adults. Adapted by Kristin Sergel with music by Allan Jay Friedman, Winnie the Pooh will be performed by Tri-State’s 2006 student intern company from Aug. 2 through Aug. 12. Company auditions for students age 13 through 18 will be held at the theater from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays, May 6, 13, 20 and 27. Tennessee Williams’ A Streetcar Named Desire follows Sept. 20 through Oct. 2. Streetcar, ranked as one of America’s greatest theatrical dramas, has had a long and successful run on Broadway and on the road. The play reveals to the very depths the character of Blanche du Bois, a woman whose life has been undermined by her romantic illusions. The season ends with a holiday season classic, Charles Dickens’, A Christmas Carol, adapted from the novel by Christopher Schario, which will run from Dec. 13 through Dec. 30. Tri-State’s Season 2006 also includes the New Plays Reading Series on May 9, Aug. 22 and Nov. 14. New scripts are given an opportunity for further development by the author through presentation and audience feedback. Several special events and fund raisers have also been planned for 2006.
