“America's Singing Poet,” Steve DePass in Concert at Sussex College

    “A performance which promotes laughter, tears, inspiration, and enlightenment” Newton - Steve DePass was dubbed “America’s Singing Poet” by the late Nelson Rockefeller. He is bringing his art and virtuosity as a raconteur in a program designed to celebrate the richness of cultural diversity through humor, song, and stories on Friday, Feb. 16 at 7 p.m. in the Sussex Bank Theater at Sussex County Community College. DePass is a poet, singer and composer who often improvises songs on the spot. His lyrics are witty, poignant, satirical, humorous and philosophical with complicated rhymes and sophisticated ideas. DePass’ half hour appearance for New Jersey PBS New Jersey Live! has been aired repeatedly, giving plugs to Sussex County each time. He has performed repeatedly at the White House, for the Queen of England, at Carnegie Hall, Town Hall, and the London Palladium.
