WEST MILFORD — This year’s Autumn Lights Festival is scheduled for Saturday, October 7 and has a heavy rain/hurricane date of Sunday, October 8. Last year’s rainy day event drew an undaunted crowd who visited vendor and civic group booths, were entertained by dance groups in town hall, and feasted on Greenwood Forest Fire Company’s sausage and pepper sandwiches. Weather aside, the West Milford Presbyterian Church sold out of their famous barbecued chicken, while patrons shopped at the indoor vendors market and enjoyed the musical entertainment of Music at the Mission. The Festival Redo in November at the Greenwood Lake Airport was a sunny success. Over 90 Young Eagles took preparatory ground school classes and enjoyed a free flight over the township. Vendors and civic groups were kept busy throughout the event while spur-of-the-moment volunteers shuttled hundreds of visitors up to the airport. To defy Mother Nature in 2006, plans are underway to distribute official ALF umbrellas to many festival patrons in addition to T-shirt give-a-ways and sales at town hall’s ALF Headquarters. Local dance studios, karate schools, and music instructors wishing to have their students perform at the festival should call Miss Cynthia of Precision Dance Academy at 973-728-8199 to schedule a performance time. As usual, these entertainers will be showcased on the circular drive in front of town hall. Bands wishing to donate a set or two should e-mail alf@optonline.net or call the ALF hotline number (973-728-2844) and leave a message. There are several locations available for bands (country, rock, jazz, 50’s, classical, etc.) who have their own set-ups. Vendors and businesses can e-mail or call the hotline and leave a message to receive information about space rentals at any of the five venues available at this time. Forms can also be downloaded from the township Web site: www.westmilford.org.
