Annual fall festival scheduled at Camp Jefferson

    Jefferson Township — The Jefferson Township Recreation Department will host its annual Fall Festival at Camp Jefferson, located at 81 Weldon Road, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14. The rain date will be Oct. 21. Festival activities will include music by DJ Earl Heller of Sound Solutions Entertainment, hayrides, a petting zoo and pony rides with Country Meadow Animal Farm, a magic show by Wisch Craft Production’s Bill Wisch at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., fall coloring activity, pumpkin painting, pumpkin picking, an inflatable Moon Walk, and a visit by the New Jersey Forest Fire Service and Smokey Bear from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. This event is free to the public. Refreshments will be available at a nominal fee, with all proceeds to benefit the Craig Sweetman Fund, the son of long-time Jefferson residents Madeline and Roland Sparling. Everyone attending is asked to please bring a non-perishable food item or paper product to help restock the Jefferson Township food pantry: canned tuna/meats, soups, beef stew, corned beef hash, peanut butter, jelly, spaghetti sauce, macaroni and cheese, non-refrigerated canned/bottled juices, canned or powdered milk, cereal, crackers, toilet paper, paper towels, paper napkins, etc. Upon arriving at Camp Jefferson, follow the directions of the Roxbury Explorer Post’s parking attendants, who will be assisting with parking and traffic flow. Shuttle service provided by Jefferson Township’s Dial-a-Ride drivers will be available between the Lake Forest Yacht Club and Camp Jefferson for overflow parking. After the festival, the Jefferson Consolidated PTA will host their 18th annual Haunted House matinee (non-scary edition) at 4 p.m. at the Community Lodge, Camp Jefferson. Tickets are $2.
