Oak Ridge — Spring is here, so it’s time to get up, get out and come to the Jefferson Township Public Library, 1031 Weldon Road in Oak Ridge, where lots of things are happening. The library will present three foreign films on Tuesday, April 10: “Something Like Happiness,” from the Czech Republic, at 3:30 p.m.; “A Simple Curve,” from Canada, at 5:30 p.m.; and “The Great Match,” from Mongolia, Niger and Brazil, at 7:15 p.m. As always, the popcorn is free! Since April is National Poetry Month, poet Priscilla Orr will read from her work at the library at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 19. Orr is the author of the poetry collection “Jugglers and Tides.” The library will also be handing out “Cookie Poems” during National Library Week, April 16 through 21. And in an effort to bring poetry to the masses, look for some “Billboard Poetry” on the library’s outdoor sign during April. The film everyone’s talking about, the Academy Award winning “An Inconvenient Truth,” will be shown at the library on Earth Day, Sunday, April 22. Show times are 1:15 and 3:15 p.m. A living history performance brings the Eisenhowers, Ike and Mamie, to the library at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 29. William and Sue Wills of Presidents and Their First Ladies, Dramatically Speaking, have presented their programs at the Ford Presidential Library, the Truman Presidential Library, on Celebrity Cruises and on BBC Radio. Come enjoy an entertaining, informative trip back in time. All events are free, and open to the public.
