Arts Council announces Re-grant Program

    Newton — The Arts & Heritage Council is accepting applications from all Sussex County visual and performing art groups, as well as from other non-profit organizations planning arts projects. The council is officially designated by the county freeholders to deliver arts and heritage services to Sussex County. Applicant non-profit organizations must be 501 C-3 corporations, as determined by the IRS and be governed by a board of directors that is responsible for policy and finance decisions. They must also comply with certain federal regulations and have a one-year track record of programs and services. Municipalities, school, libraries may qualify. Eligible organizations are urged to appoint a member of their board of directors (usually the treasurer) to attend the Arts Grant Workshop on at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 28 at the Arts Council office located at 9 Moran Street, Newton. Someone from the applicant organization must attend the workshop in order for the organization to be eligible to receive funds. Call the Arts office at 383-0027 to reserve a place. The application deadline is Oct. 19. Grants will be awarded for General Operating Support for visual and performing arts group and for Special Projects presented by non-arts organizations. The re-grantee’s board should discuss a proposed grant request and its expected use prior to the workshop, so that the grantee representative is prepared.
