Author to lead workshop for young writers Jan. 21

Wantage - Pamela Curtis Swallow will give an “Author Talk,” open to all, at 9:30 a.m., and then lead a writer’s workshop for young people at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, Jan. 21, at the Sussex-Wantage Library. The free events, hosted by the Friends of the Library group, will be held in the library’s community room. Swallow, an award-winning author, will take listeners behind the scenes as she describes how she creates her books and how everyday life can become rich material for stories. The workshop will offer encouragement and motivation to young writers from age 10 through 15 as Swallow shares tips on character development, setting and plot. Swallow’s books include the Melvin and Dewey chapter books series, Groundhog Gets a Say, The Writer’s Notebook and It Only Looks Easy. Seating is limited and registration is required at the Sussex-Wantage Library, located at 69 Rte. 639 in Wantage. For information, call 973-875-3749.
