SPARTA-The Sparta Summer Concerts welcomes blues rocker Billy Hector to the Sparta stage on Friday, July 22, at 7:30 p.m. at George Dykstra Park in Sparta. Hector has shared the bill with B.B. King, Billy Preston, Bo Diddley, Coco Taylor, Johnny Winter, Ronnie Earl, Johnny Copeland, Buddy Guy, Dr. John, and The Fabulous Thunderbirds, to name a few. With twenty-five years of performing under his belt, Hector is recognized as one of the hottest guitarists and songwriters playing the circuit. He serves up what more than one reviewer has called "one of the best shows you'll ever see." Hector recently headlined the Jazz and Blues Festival in Red Bank, and has numerous upcoming appearances this summer. He and his band shared billing with Bonnie Raitt at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's "Tribute to Muddy Waters." The Sparta Summer Concerts are held Friday evenings through the end of July in George Dystra Park (behind the Sparta Public Library). In the event of inclement weather the Sparta Summer Concerts are held in the Mohawk Avenue School Auditorium (adjacent to Dystrka Park).
