By Laurie GordonA Paint n' Sip will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 6, at Bridgeway Rehabilitation Center, 93 Stickles Pond Rd., in Newton. Local artists will guide participants as they paint, and the BYOB event promises to be a fun evening for a great cause. Paint n' Sip offers participants the opportunity to create an acrylic painting, The sponsoring organization provides the paint, brushes, canvas or other media, the instructors, and light finger snacks. People leave the evening with a completed art project.“Paint n' Sip is a popular fundraiser being used by many organizations,” said Diane Piagesi-Zett, MA, LRC, CRC, the Director of the Sussex Community Support Team for Bridgeway. Realizing the popularity of such events, they decided to try holding a Paint 'n Sip at Bridgeway. “This would not only give us a way to sponsor a fun community event, it would give us a way to raise funds for Bridgeway, a non-profit organization serving the mental health needs of the Sussex County community,” Piagesi-Zett said. “We have a lovely facility at 93 Stickles Pond Road, and have sponsored other community events at the building in partnership with local non-profit organizations,” said Deborah Drumm, APN, BC, a nurse at Bridgeway. Louis Anthony and Craig Joseph are accomplished Sussex County artists. Anthony specializes in landscapes with acrylic as his preferred medium, and he does commissioned pieces. Joseph is a children’s book illustrator. The have created a dozen children’s books. Joseph's work is known for vibrant color, while Anthony is known for his near photo realistic landscapes.“Together the two have designed a Paint n' Sip program that is relaxed, incredibly fun, inspiring, and gives a view of talents sometimes hidden,” Drumm said. Craig is a certified meditation instructor, and conducts a short relaxation exercise. They call their program, Mind, Wine, and Canvas.Bridgeway Rehabilitation Services facilitates, promotes, and fosters recovery from mental illness and co-occurring problems. Bridgeway inspires and support individuals to become productive citizens who are fully engaged in their communities by creating opportunities for wellness, independent living, learning, working and social inclusion.
