Byram community trips for all ages begin July 11

    Byram - The Byram Parks and Recreation Dept. is offering a variety of trips this summer and fall designed to appeal to people of all ages. The summer trips will begin with a family trip to the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia on Tuesday, July 11. The institute is one of the nation’s first interactive museums and the trip includes a visit to the Fels Planetarium as well as an IMAX Theatre presentation. Cost is $35 per person, including lunch. The bus leaves the Byram Civic Center, 55 Lackawanna Drive, Byram, at 9 a.m. and returns at 10 p.m. Teens, ages 14-17, may travel on their own with a buddy. Throughout the day, regular check-ins with chaperones will be required. Medical forms and permission slips must be filled out in advance. On Monday, July 31, family and friends are invited for a trip to Dorney Park, Pa., for a day of summer fun and rides. Cost for adults and teens is $35. The bus leaves the Civic Center at 9 a.m. and returns at 7:30 p.m. Teens, ages 14-17, may travel on their own with a buddy. Again, check-ins with chaperones will be required throughout the day and medical forms and permission slips filled out in advance. A trip to world famous NYC museums is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 23. Participants will visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art or the Museum of Natural of Natural History. Cost is $20 and includes bus transportation only. (Neither lunch nor admission is included.) The bus leaves the Byram municipal building parking lot at 10 a.m. and returns at 6:30 p.m. The American League pennant race will be in full swing for a trip to Yankee Stadium on Thursday, Sept. 28, to see the Bombers play the Baltimore Orioles. Cost of $25 includes tier-reserved ticket and bus transportation. The bus leaves the municipal building parking lot at 5 p.m. and returns at approximately 11:30 p.m. A Columbus Day trip to historic Philadelphia will take place on Monday, Oct. 9. Cost is $65, and includes bus transportation and a “Colonial guide” escort to the National Constitution Center, Independence Hall, Betsy Ross’ House and Christ Church. (Lunch is not included.). The bus leaves the Mount Olive Municipal Building at 8 a.m. and returns at 8 p.m. A Broadway show trip to see the new Disney musical, Tarzan, is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 4. Cost is $99, which includes bus transportation and a front mezzanine ticket. Departure from the municipal building is at 9:30 a.m. and the return is at 6:30 p.m. There will be time for lunch or shopping before the 2 p.m. matinee. A three-day trip to historic Williamsburg, Va., will take place from Friday, Nov. 9, to Monday, Nov. 12 (departure and return times to be determined). Included are three nights’ lodging, three dinners (one Colonial Tavern and one dinner theatre), three breakfasts, a two-day pass to Colonial Williamsburg, and a tour of Jamestown Settlement and the Yorktown Victory Center. A winter holiday trip to Radio City Music Hall’s “Christmas Spectacular” is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 12. Cost per person is $60, which includes bus transportation and a second mezzanine ticket. The bus leaves the municipal building at 11 a.m. for a 4 p.m. performance, leaving time for lunch (not included) before the show. All trips include transportation on a coach bus with a lavatory and VCR. All trips leave from the municipal building parking lot unless otherwise noted.
