Children's Chorus to sing in Washington, once again

Washington, D.C. For the second time in less than a year, the Children’s Chorus of Sussex County will sing at our nation’s capital. On Dec. 21, 20 members of the Concert Choir had the privilege of singing in the Grand Foyer of the White House, while visitors viewed the holiday decorations. The Concert Choir will return to the capital on Sunday, July 8, to sing at the Washington National Cathedral. The cathedral, built in the Gothic style, is the sixth largest cathedral in the world. The group will then travel to Elon University, where they will spend a week as Young-Artists-in-Residence at a Choral Music Experience Course for choir directors. Local music lovers can hear the Children’s Chorus sing in Sussex County, when the Bella Voce choir will perform at the Butterfly Release Celebration for the Karen Anne Quinlan Hospice on Saturday, June 9. The celebration will be held at 4 p.m. in the pavilion of Sussex County Community College. All three choirs of the Children’s Chorus will perform at Blessed Kateri Church, Sparta, at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 17. The Children’s Chorus of Sussex County accepts children from first grade through high school into three different choirs. Children with unchanged voices are welcome to audition for the Bel Canto, Bella Voce or Concert Choir.
