Comedy and magic coming to Sparta Ave. Stage


SPARTA — The Sparta Ave Stage will be presenting some exciting and varied performers this spring. The spring run at the Stage starts with a weekend of great comedy and expert magic. Friday evening, April 21 at 8PM, TV star and stand-up comedian, Chris Roach, from the CBS comedy series, Kevin Can Wait will be headlining “A Comedy Night” courtesy of “The Looney Bin.” On Sunday, April 23 at 4PM, the outstanding world champion, Argentinian master magician, Hernan Marcelo Nogueira, aka Henry Evans will be presenting his one-hour plus magic show ”Something more than Illusion.”
Kevin James hand-picked Chris Roach, a 6 foot 6 inch former police officer, for his hit CBS comedy series after seeing Chris perform at a Long Island Comedy Club. Chris has been performing stand-up comedy for over 14 years and is known for his unique and self-deprecating sense of humor. Chris’s other television appearances include Comedy Central, The Michael J. Fox Show and a recurring role as Rodney, the loveable mental patient on the soap opera One Life to Live. Chris recently appeared at The Borgata Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City and earlier this month Chris was the opening act for Kevin James at The Paramount. Other performers rounding out the show include Missy Alan, Barbara Daniels and comedy-magician Joe Garsetti. The same weekend, Sparta Ave Stage will host one of the most clever and personable magicians in the world. Sunday afternoon, April 23, at 4PM, Argentinian Grand Master Magician and 2000 FISM (Fédération Internationale des Sociétés Magiques) award winner, Henry Evans, will present “Something More than an Illusion.” Henry is known as a “magician’s magician” because his magic mystifies even magicians. The show (from the five time Argentinian “magician of the year”) combines stage and sophisticated close-up magic that appeals to all ages. Sparta Ave Stage proprietor and magician Joe Garsetti states…”what’s so unique about Henry is that not only is he technically flawless, he is able get into the heart of the audience and then gently plays with their emotions in a charming way.”
Joe adds…“It’s exciting to see that Sparta is becoming known as a “go to place to play” for magicians from all over the globe. In May, Sparta Ave Stage will be presenting “a month of mind power.” On Friday night, May 19, at 8PM, Alain Nu, the modern day “Man Who Knows” will demonstrate his talent to amaze and marvel all using mentalism, mind power, consciousness, and mysticism.
