Newton — Looking for something to give someone who lrady has everything? Want a gift that is unusual and not found anywhere else? The Sussex County Arts and Heritage Council has the answer. It's art. And, art by local artists will be for sale from Nov. 19 to Jan. 7, 2012, as the Sussex County Arts and Heritage Council hosts Art is a Gift, a holiday show and sale of affordable art. The artworks and artists cover the spectrum of fine art and quality crafts: raku pottery, hand-knitted mittens, felted alpaca scarves, realistic paintings, photography and abstract acrylic paintings. All are for sale, with some under $50. Visitors and shoppers alike can browse and feel the holiday spirit captured by the artists and displayed in their work. The opening reception is Saturday, Dec. 3 from 4 to 6 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. The show is in the Council's gallery at 133 Spring Street in Newton. The gallery is open during normal office hours: Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. More information about these and other events can be found on the Council's Web site www.scahc.org or by calling 973-383-0027.
