Cornerstone to present Lion in Winter' at Lake Mohawk
Sparta - Cornerstone Playhouse presents its summer production of “The Lion In Winter” by James Goldman and produced by Samuel French, Inc., at 8 p.m. on Aug. 3, 4, and 5 and at 2 p.m. on Aug. 6. All performances will be at the Lake Mohawk Country Club, on the boardwalk in Sparta. “The Lion in Winter” features KC Cameron, Kathy Ziemann, Thomas Courtright, Dan Egan, Brendon O’Brien, Claire Bochenek, and John Cherney. The production is under the co-direction of Cameron and Courtright. Carol Emerson will produce and Paul Tracy will serve as stage manager. In the play, King Henry the II of England has three sons by Eleanor of Aquitaine - Richard, Geofffrey and John. He wants the kingdom to stay united after his death, but all three sons want to rule the kingdom is likely to be torn apart by revolution. Henry favors the youngest son while Eleanor favors the eldest. The middle son hopes to play both ends against each other and come out on top. Henry would like to have another heir by his mistress, but that would only add to the contenders. Tickets are $12 ($11 for seniors and students and members).
