County Harvest Festival this weekend

    Augusta — The second annual Sussex County Harvest Festival will be held Saturday, Oct. 15 at the Sussex County Fairgrounds from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event is a celebration of agritourism, ecotourism and arts and heritage tourism. The County of Sussex is joining with the Sussex County Farm and Horse Show to highlight the many facets of the region. There will be a farmers market selling fresh, local Sussex County and Jersey Fresh products including fruit, vegetables, flowers and wine. And, there will be displays and information from environmental and agricultural organizations highlighting the county's public open spaces. Birding and nature walks will be held on the fairgrounds led by members of the Sussex County Bird Club. The Sparta Camera Club will put on a photography display. There will be pony rides in the Agriculture Pavilion and the Farm Fun building will have games and activities geared for children. The Sussex County Harvest Festival is a free event. The fairgrounds is located at 37 Plains Road, Augusta.
