CPR class scheduled at first aid squad
West Milford - The American Heart Association (AHA) has updated its CPR and AED recommendations in a program known as “Guidelines.” As such, the WMFAS has a new schedule for CPR programs for our community. New baby coming? Caring for an elderly parent? Starting to baby sit? These are all situations that some of you may find yourselves in the near future. The American Heart Associations Family and Friends Course is just what you need to learn CPR and get an introduction to the AED (automated external defibrillator). And, if the interest is there, spend an additional 45 minutes with us and get an introduction to Basic First Aid as well. This course is being offered at 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 9 and Monday, Dec. 11 at the Ridge Road First Aid Building. Depending on the number of participants, the course will take from 2-3 hours to complete. Cost is $15 per participant. On Nov. 13, we will be offering the Heartsaver AED program. In one night, this course now covers Adult, Infant and Child CPR and the use of an AED. This is the course to take if you require a CPR certification card from the AHA. The cost is $25 per participant. Due to the equipment requirements for these new courses, they will only be offered at our building. For a group of six or more that require a CPR class, additional classes can be offered at our building to accommodate a group. For more information, or to enroll in one of the classes, send an e-mail to wmcpr@optonline.net. Registrants must be enrolled at least one week prior to the class date in order to ensure a spot in the class.
