Craft center marks 35th anniversary with concert by Richie Havens

    Sussex county — Peters Valley will mark its 35th Anniversary Craft Fair with a concert by Richie Havens at the Sussex County Fairgrounds in Augusta. The craft fair is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 23, from 6 to 10 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 24, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 25, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., rain or shine. On Friday night, there will be an Artist's Preview, and a concert by renowned folk singer Richie Havens. This special event will give attendees the opportunity to be the first to view and purchase artwork, attend the "Best In Show" awards ceremony, and listen to the concert. The craft fair features over 170 talented craftspeople that were selected by guest jurors Ruth and Rick Snyderman of Snydermans/Works Gallery in Philadelphia. The work of these artists will be for sale throughout the weekend. Tickets to Fridays events are $30 if purchased in advance (available August 1), or $35 at the door. Current members of WNTI and Peters Valley receive a $5 discount. WNTI 91.9 public radio out of Centenary College in Hackettstown is a supporting sponsor of the Richie Havens concert. Over the course of the weekend visitors can expect to see beautiful ceramics, fiber, glass, drawings and paintings, metal, blacksmithing, photography, sculpture, jewelry, wearable art, wood items and furniture. In addition to the opportunity to view and purchase fine crafts, visitors will be entertained by roving musicians, supplied with food, and shown craft demonstrations by Peters Valley's resident artists and other exhibitors.
