Delaware Valley Choral Society plans Christmas concerts

Celebrate with the Delaware Valley Choral Society on its tenth anniversary in concert this Christmas season.

Time has flown by for the choral society since it officially became a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing beautiful music to the area. It traces its origins to 2006, when a group of musicians gathered to perform for the Milford United Methodist Church's organ rededication service. Since then it has grown in size and repertoire.

This year’s Christmas program features the first major work performed in 2008 at the Milford United Methodist Church – Cantata 140, “Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme” (Sleepers Awake) by Johann Sebastian Bach. Because it’s a special celebration, you’ll also hear favorite carols picked by the membership and will be treated to music performed by the Dingman Delaware Children’s Choir directed by Brian Krauss.

Do you like to sing?

If you like to sing, consider joining the choral society in January as it begins rehearsals for its spring concert. Rehearsals take place every Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m, at the Milford United Methodist Church.

The Delaware Valley Choral Society is a non-profit group dedicated to performing major choral works in their original form. It incorporates aspiring musicians from the area as well as professional musicians to bring major works of music to our community.
