OGDENSBURG — There are two more opportunities this year to dig for fossils at the Sterling Hill Mining Museum — the second Saturday of October and November. Visitors can dig for fossils using an ID chart and they will have the chance to ask questions of the museum’s paleontologist. Diggers can keep six of the fossils they find to take along home. The event repeats every half hour beginning at 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. for a fee of $4.50 per individual. Each session is limited to 25 people on a first-come, first-served basis. The last session at 12:30 p.m. is not recommended for those intending to take the mine tour at 1 p.m. Reservations in advance are appreciated for groups of three or more. Groups of 10 or more can reserve other time slots by appointment. Groups of 15 or more can reserve any day of the week pending staff availability. To make a reservation, call 973-209-7212. Sterling Hill is located at 30 Plant Street in Ogdensburg, NJ. Visit our website www.sterlinghill.org for directions and more details about activities and events.
