Financial planners set ‘fitness' workshop

    SPARTA-Sparta and Sussex County residents are invited to “Shape Up Your Financial Fitness,” a free financial planning workshop sponsored by the Financial Planning Association of New Jersey. The workshop will take place from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 18, at the Sparta Ambulance Building, 14 Sparta Ave. Refreshments and door prizes will be offered. Guest speakers include Nicholas Nicolette, of Sterling Financial Group in Sparta and a member of the Financial Planning Association national board; Barbara O’Neill, specialist in financial resource management, of Rutgers Cooperative Research and Extension; and Richard I. Clark, Esq., estate planning attorney and partner of Laddey, Clark & Ryan, LLP, in Sparta. Experts will be available for interactive discussions with attendees on strategies for improving financial security in retirement. A real-life situation will be used as a case study to evaluate various steps that may be considered to avoid financial disaster. Topics will include planning finances during retirement, proper insurance coverage, and how to evaluate wills, trusts and health-care proxies. Social Security issues will also be discussed.
