Warwick, N.Y. — The Warwick Valley Winery and distillery will host its annual Harvest Moon Wine and Folk festival September 9 and 10. The festival is an annual event at the winery, marking the start of apple season and autumn harvest. The Folk festival features a blend of national recording folk artists, as well as many local musicans. This year’s lineup features Sarah Lee Guthrie and Johnny Irion, along with Mark Erelli on Saturday, and Susan Werner and Red Molly on Sunday. Sarah Lee Guthrie, daughter of Arlo, granddaughter of Woody, will be on the winery stage along with her husband, Johhny Irion, Saturday, Sept. 9 around 2 p.m. The duo will play a blend of folk and rock, with harmonies and guitar work. Next will be folk musician Mark Erelli. Erelli has the reputation as one of today’s best young singer/songwriters. He weaves tales of honesty and true passion. Also playing on Saturday are Terrence Martin, John Sheehan, Project Mercury, Larry Amato, Chrissy Roberts, and Pete Barrett. Susan Werner will be headlining on Sunday. This marks Werner’s first visit to the winery but surely won’t be her last. Werner’s vocals make her music pure poetry. Preceding Werner on the winery stage is Red Molly. This female trio graced the winery stage twice before, each time entertaining their audience with their country folk style. Rounding out the festival lineup for Sunday is Boris Garcia, the Flying Hooky Dookys, local stars Mike and Suzy, and Perfect Angle. Wine tastings, hard cider, and fruit brandies, as well as food and soft drinks will be available all weekend at the winery. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door.
