SPARTA-The Sparta Historical Society is dedicating a marker on The Century House on Main Street in Sparta. The installation ceremony will take place on Sunday, Aug. 7 at 12:30 p.m. The public is invited, and parking will be available at the Presbyterian church. Peter and Maria DeFelice, the new owners of this historic Victorian gem, moved their business, The Fower Box, to The Century House from its former location on Main St. Known as the James B. Titman House, it was built n 1890 and was a grand showplace in Sparta. Mr. Titman was a generous member of the community. Among other contributions, he donated power for street lights, providing Sparta with amenities long before other towns. For further information, call Lynne Cavanaugh at 973-729-8159.
