Vernon — Zephyr Vocal Ensemble, a new, professional-level a cappella singing group, is presenting a holiday concert, "A Zephyr Christmas...with a little Hanukkah thrown in!" on Saturday night, Dec. 3 at 8 p.m. The concert will be held in the social hall at St. Francis de Sales R.C. Church on Route 517 in Vernon. The social hall was designed acoustically for musical performances and has its own built-in stage. The concert will feature traditional music of both Christmas and Hanukkah, as well as seasonal music of Gregorian chant, J.S. Bach, Sweelinck and Whitacre, as well as music of Elvis Presley, Manhattan Transfer, The Real Group, The King's Singers and others. Admission is discounted if purchased in advance at www.zephyrve.org/purchase-tickets: $15 regular; $10 seniors; free for children 12 and under and the unemployed. Tickets purchased at the door are $20 regular; $10 seniors; $5 children 12 and under; free to unemployed. Early arrival is recommended, as seating is best at the front of the social hall. Directions can be found on the Zephyr Web site. Both GPS and Mapquest are unreliable in getting visitors to this venue. These 6.5-inch plants are available in red or white, and are selling for $8 apiece on the Web site. Deadline to order poinsettias is Nov. 27.
