Jan. 14 concert to benefit Asian quake victims
Boonton - Children’s entertainer “Big Jeff” and the popular singer/songwriting duo Kate and Paul will headline a benefit concert on Saturday, Jan. 14, to aid victims of the recent earthquake in South Asia. The concert, sponsored by the American Joint Multifaith/Multicultural Association and People of Peace and Justice, will take place from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Darress Theater in Boonton. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children under 12. Attendees are also requested to bring a blanket to donate for use by some of the five million victims of the earthquake in Pakistan and Kashmir. Among those expected to attend the concert is Haroon Shaukat, consul general of Pakistan. All donations will be given to the Edhi Foundation; Infotech (for temporary shelters, at $150 each); the Pakistani President’s Relief Fund, or to rent containers to ship blankets and jackets to South Asia.
