Jazz at WPU

    Tim Newman, a bass trombonist, teacher and composer, will perform with his sextet as part of William Paterson University’s Jazz Room Series on the campus in Wayne, N.J. on Sunday, October 1, 2006. Newman, who received his undergraduate degree from the University in jazz studies, is currently an instructor in William Paterson’s music department, where he teaches jazz history and other courses. The concert will begin at 4 p.m. in the Shea Center for Performing Arts. Tickets are available in advance or on the day of the performance at $15 standard and $12 for senior citizens, non-William Paterson students and William Paterson faculty, staff and alumni. William Paterson students may attend free of charge. Prior to the concert, Newman will be the guest for “Sittin’ In,” an informal discussion about jazz, at 3 p.m. in room 101 of Shea Center. Admission is free to all Jazz Room ticket holders.
