Jefferson Public Library announces upcoming events
Oak Ridge The Jefferson Township Public Library has plenty of programs and events during the month of July for the teens and adults of the community. Readers may sign up for Page Turners, an online summer reading club at www.jeffersonlibrary.net. Each time you read a book, record the title and author, then rate it on a scale of 1-5. Each week the library will randomly select a member of the club to receive a special prize Two Scandinavian films will be shown on Sunday, July 8: “The Bothersome Man,” in Norwegian with English subtitles (Norway) at 1:15 p.m. and “Mother of Mine,” in Finnish and Swedish with English subtitles (Finland/Sweden) at 3 p.m. No registration necessary and the popcorn is free. The Knitting Circle meets at 11 a.m. on the first and third Saturdays of each month, including Saturday, July 7 and Saturday, July 21. Bring a current project, share favorite tips and meet like-minded needlecrafters. The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey’s NextStage Ensemble performs Shakeskpeare’s 1596 masterpiece, Henry IV, Part I, at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 17. Recommended for ages 12 and up; no registration necessary. The library is also sponsoring two Gazebo concerts this summer. Van Martin Productions presents big band music from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 22, and Mad Agnes performs folk/rock in three-part harmony from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 29. Anime Movie Night for the whole family will feature a free showing of Miyazaki’s “Spirited Away” at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 25. Free pizza and snacks provided by the library. Sign up online at www.jeffersonlibrary.net to reserve a seat. Cover to Cover, the book group for adults, meets at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 26 to discuss Leeway Cottage by Beth Gutcheon. Cover to Cover meets on the fourth Thursday of each month. Two anime series films, “Rurouni Kenshin” and “Fruits Basket” will be shown at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 31.
