Rec Dept. teams up with Hidden Acres Farm for horseback riding camp West Milford — The West Milford Department of Community Services and Recreation is teaming up with Hidden Acres Farm for a winter break camp all about horses, open to children in grades 1 through 8. Experience the enjoyment of horses and stay out of the cold while participating in the camp in Hidden Acres Farm's indoor arena and heated viewing room. The days will be filled with educational and fun horse activities geared toward developing children into riders. The children will learn the responsibility of managing the daily care of horses and ride with top instructors to develop their riding skills. During the week, industry experts will stop by to educate the children on careers with horses. At the end the week the children will enjoy a pizza party and put on a mini demonstration highlighting the skills they've learned during the week with family and friends invited to watch. No experience is necessary to participate in this camp. It is a great way to be introduced to horses. Participants should bring lunch, a snack and a drink each day. Long pants and shoes with heels are required, as is a riding or bicycle helmet. The camp will run 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day, Dec. 26 through 30. Before and after care is available for $5 per hour and must be arranged before the start of the camp. The cost of the camp is $325 per camper and that includes all materials and supplies. A $25 discount per child is available for families registering more than one participant. Non-residents of West Milford are welcome for $10 additional. Registration must include payment in full. Hidden Acres Farm is located at 1330 Westbrook Road in West Milford. Makes checks payable to West Milford Community Services and Recreation. For more information, go to www.westmilford.org.
