Sparta-Members and former members from near and far are expected to attend Lake Mohawk Golf Course's 75th Anniversary on Saturday at its clubhouse. The Anniversary Gala (Black-Tie optional) Dinner Dance will begin with a cocktail party at 6 p.m., followed by a four-course gourmet dinner and music by a seven-piece dance orchestra. Several celebration events will emphasize the Club's 75th anniversary. LMGC's original Greens Superintendent, Sherwood Moore, plus Sparta Mayor Scott Seelagy, a USGA Historian, and many former members, along with current and former officers have indicated that they will attend. LMGC is located within the Lake Mohawk reservation. Arthur D. Crane and Herbert Claus, developers of Lake Mohawk, set aside approximately 125 acres of land for the golf course in order to enhance the resort community. Through the years, LMGC has expanded its facilities and refined its course. Today, the course is considered among the top five courses in the state. Members hail from northern New Jersey and New York. LMGC offers four membership categories: Active membership, a limited golf membership, a corporate membership and a dining membership.
