SPARTA-During the first Friday and Saturday in December, the Lake Mohawk County Club's Boardwalk in Sparta is being transformed into a Weihnachtsmarkt (German Christmas market) that will showcase about 40 vendors offering Christmas items. The committee constantly seeks new vendors that have holiday-related items to sell. This year's funds raised will be distributed to Big Brother Big Sister of Sussex County and the German Language Departments of the Sparta and Lenape Valley School Districts. Traditional food items like German sausages, roasted nuts, and warmed mulled spiced wine (Gluhwein) are prepared on the boardwalk, and choirs from local schools give performances throughout the festival. Any "last-minute" vendors who wish to offer their products at the event should immediately contact the committee by sending an e-mail to germanchristmasmarket@earthlink.net.
