Lowney-Seed featured in hilltop art exhibition
Sparta - Local Sparta artist Kárin Lowney-Seed is set to headline the 29th Annual Hilltop Country Day School Art Exhibition and Sale, to be held Friday, Oct. 13 through Sunday, Oct. 15. “I am hugely flattered at the constant support the Hilltop community has given me, and honored to have this opportunity to show a large volume of recent and exciting new work,” said Lowney-Seed. Lowney-Seed is a fine artist whose paintings are bold, colorful, and often contain humor. Her subject matter varies and her work covers a range of emotions. She has won numerous painting awards and has been the featured artist in many prior shows, in addition to holding several one-person shows. Parties interested in learning more about Lowney-Seed and her work may visit her Web site at www.twobluechairs.com. In addition to Lowney-Seed’s work, the Hilltop Country Day School Art Exhibition and Sale will involve a broad range of pieces from more than 70 area artists and sculptors, including world-renowned artists from both public and private collections. The event will kick off Friday evening with an opening champagne reception with the artists from 7 - 10 p.m., for which a donation of $10.00 per person is suggested. The gallery will then open on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with complimentary admission to visitors. Families are welcome, and children will have the opportunity to participate in an art-focused “scavenger hunt” as they tour the gallery. Additionally, a free art workshop is being offered for children from five to 10 years of age, from 1 - 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14. The workshop will consist of a child-geared gallery tour followed by an art class in which children may create their own painting, inspired by what they’ve seen and learned during the tour. Refreshments for parents and participants will complete the workshop. Registration for the workshop is required and participation is limited. Interested parties should contact Hilltop Country Day School Director of Development Ginnie Avondoglio at (973) 729-5485, or via e-mail at gavondoglio@hilltopcds.org.
