Franklin - As part of a program designed to encourage literacy in early childhood, the Franklin library treated youngsters to the RSVP Repertory Company’s production of the Magic Fish by the Brothers Grimm. “I can testify to the fact that children engage more when they see a dramatic presentation,” said Bernadette Caruso, a narrator and director of the company. The children were encouraged to get involved in the process by helping out with the sound effects and visual props. “As a former teacher and childhood specialist, I found that dramatizing the stories in this way has proven to be a really good tool for literacy,” added Caruso. The RSVP Repertory Company will be performing in libraries throughout Sussex County on an ongoing basis. Check local listings for details. (Photo by Eileen Stanbridge)
