New gallery show includes photographs and pen and ink

The West Milford Artists Gallery will hold an Artists' reception on Saturday, September 10 from 7 - 9 p.m. The reception marks the opening of a show featuring the photographs of John Archibald and pen and ink drawings of Wil Dewey. Also on display, women's millinery from the 1940s and 1950s from the collection of Maria Dewey. These hats range from whimsical to flamboyant! John Archibald is a landscape photographer whose imagery ranges from lighthouses in Maine to beautiful local scenes. His work was first presented in a one-artist show at the student center gallery of William Patterson College in Wayne NJ. Approximately 50 works were displayed, 30 of which sold immediately. Archibald's photographs have been shown at the Rockaway and Ledgewood Mall galleries, and the Art Gallery at Lafayette Village. As a member of the West Milford Camera Club and the West Milford Artists Association, Archibald's work has been exhibited locally at the Autumn Light Festival. "I am honored to present my work at the West Milford Gallery. They are specially priced, and available in two sizes. I'm sure you will enjoy the show and I hope to see you there." As a resident of West Milford, Wil Dewey draws upon the history of the area with portraits of historical landmarks and scenes. Influenced by classic and contemporary illustration, he uses the landscape as metaphor that alludes to a dreamy atmosphere. Wil utilizes pen and ink, rapidograph, acrylic, and watercolor and is frequently commissioned to render private homes and institutions. He has exhibited as an active member of the West Milford Artists Association and has studied at the Ridgewood School of Art and Design, as well as Parsons and the School of Visual Arts in N.Y.C. This show will run from September 8 through November 4. Regular gallery hours: Thursday and Friday 5 to 7 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
