New play reading series begins

Sussex — “The Logic Of Reason,” by Andrew Beal of Cranston, R.I., was selected as the first new play to be read as part of the New Plays Reading Series by Tri-State Actors at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 7, at the historic Crescent Theater. John Little and Mary Ann Hay, performers often seen at Tri-State, will lead a cast of professionals in the reading. Beal juxtaposed several historic events in an unusual combination that leads to a confrontation between former lovers and colleagues at a Mid-western college. A professor of art cries out for his students to act on their beliefs in the turbulent days in 1970, when American college students and others were protesting the war in Vietnam. His nemesis, a former student and lover, has become the dean of students, who struggles to keep her former lover from self-destruction. The suggested donation for admission is $5. 973-875-2950.
