Olde English Feast' returns to Jefferson High School Dec. 9
Jefferson - The annual “Olde English Feast” will return to the Castle of Jeffersonshire (also known as Jefferson Township High School) the weekend of Dec. 9. Now in its twenty-first year, the feast will transport visitors back in time, from the moment they walk through the castle gate and down the dimly lit castle halls to attend a banquet hosted by King James and Queen Jessica. Guests must first pass the shire tax collector, Will Pigsnout, and pay their taxes (ticket fee) if they have not already done so. Then it’s off to the Great Hall (the high school cafeteria) to be introduced to those already seated by the Beefeater, John Trumbull. Guests will be greeted by a serving wench or knave and be escorted like royalty to their tables. When all the guests have arrived, it will be time for the entrance of the Royal Court. The Court is made up of the Royal Family and their entourage, skillfully played by the Jefferson Township High School Madrigal Singers - who will entertain for the next three hours. The rest of the evening will consist of a five-course roast beef dinner, plus dancing, singing, juggling, skits and morality plays, not to mention other sundry entertainments - such as knightings and beheadings by the shire headsman, Eric Blunt. The festivies will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 9, and Saturday, Dec. 10, and at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 11. Tickets are $22 for adults, $18 for Jefferson students and senior citizens, and $15 for children under 12. Group discounts are available. For information, call 973-697-3535, ext. 5860.
