Oratorio begins spring season

    Newton — Love to sing? The Sussex County Oratorio Society began its spring season on Monday, Jan. 15, at Christ Episcopal Church on Main Street in Newton. Weekly rehearsals are held Monday nights from 7:45 to 9:45, with voice placement for new members at 7:15 on Jan. 15 and 22. All who love to sing are welcome. The season will culminate in a spring concert slated for May 5, entitled “An A in Music Class” which will include pieces from composers whose last names all begin with the letter A accompanied by strings and brass. Founded in 1952, the Sussex County Oratorio Society is the oldest community choral group in the county and has a long history as a non-profit organization dedicated to providing quality classical choral music programs in Sussex County. Oratorio members love to sing and hail from all walks of life with diverse musical backgrounds, both amateur and professional. Biannual concerts are always well received.
