ANDOVER-Kirk Avondoglio of Perona Farms will cook at the Bid Against Hunger 2005 event in New York City on Oct. 25. Avondoglio was invited to take part by Eric Rippert, chair of City Harvest’s food council. Rippert is chef/owner of the famed LeBernardin restaurant in Manhattan. “The Bid” is the premier tasting event of the season, with noted chefs from 40 of the New York City area’s top restaurants preparing gourmet treats. Avondoglio will be preparing a terrine of smoked salmon, Swiss chard and mascarpone. A live and silent auction will also be held at the event, which gets under way at 7 p.m. at Metropolitan Pavilion in New York City. City Harvest, a non-profit organization, is the world’s oldest—and New York’s only—food “rescue” program. City Harvest rescues excess food from all segments of the food industry and delivers it to community food programs. For more information, call 917-351-8725.
