Saint Thomas Choir to sing March 3 at Christ Episcopal Church in Newton

    Newton - The Saint Thomas Choir of men and boys will be performing at Christ Episcopal Church in Newton at 8 p.m. on Friday, March 3. The choir is considered by major critics both at home and abroad to be the best men and boys choral ensemble in the United States. The choir of 14 men and 18 boys sings at the five weekly worship services at Saint Thomas Church in NYC and the group prepares 400 pieces of sacred music a year. The choir’s concerts are frequently televised and broadcast nationally and abroad. Their recordings span from the music of the 15th century to contemporary works. The choir has also recorded many popular songs with such artists as Judy Collins and Carly Simon. Christ Episcopal Church, located at 62 Main St. (Route 206) in Newton, is a neo-gothic structure built in 1869. It seats approximately 250 people. Musicians who have performed at the church have commented on the building’s near perfect acoustics.
