See the show, help wolves
SUSSEX Cornerstone Playhouse always chooses a local charity to raise money for during its shows. This year the children in the cast of "Big Bad Musical" have chosen the Lakota Wolf Preserve as their charity. Artistic Director Scott Mason had never heard of the preserve, so after some research agreed that this was an incredible choice for the kids to rally behind. The Lakota Wolf Preserve is located in Knowlton Township in Warren County. At the preserve visitors can hear the howling of wolves echoing through the mountains of the Delaware Water Gap. Packs of Tundra, Timber and Arctic wolves can be seen in a natural surrounding for the first time in over a century. Bobcats and foxes also reside at the reserve. For additional information visit www.lakotalwolf.com. Luminaries help remember Before and after the show, the cast will be selling luminaries that will be placed at the Sussex County Relay for Life on May 19. Theater-goers can design their own luminary or have one of the young artists design one for them. The luminaries honor people who were victims or survivors of cancer. They are placed around the perimeter of the event. After dark, a ceremony helps to honor people who have been touched by cancer and remember loved ones lost to the disease. Candles are lit inside bags filled with sand, each one bearing the name of a person touched by cancer, and participants often walk a lap in silence. Funds raised through this project help the American Cancer Society. Cornerstone cast and staff members will also be selling tickets to a breakfast at Applebees on May 20 from 8 to 10 a.m. This event follows the overnight at Sussex County Community College for relay for life and 100 percent of all proceeds will go to the Relay for Life fundraising activities. Tickets are $8 and can be reserved at 973-702-0687. See the show "Big bad Musical" brings to the stage a cast of characters from fairy tales and gives the audience a chance to play the jury and vote on the wolfs guilt or innocence.
