Sheila Grodsky is artist of the month at Gallery 23

    Blairstown - The windows at Gallery 23 will feature the work of Sheila Grodsky as the Artist of the Month for February. Grodsky is renowned for her contemporary paintings in acrylic and watercolor. Her work has been described as experimental watermedia. She says, “My earliest memory of myself as an artist goes back to early childhood when I was given art materials to play with. I have been hooked since then.” Grodsky uses a variety of materials and techniques including, watercolors, acrylics, gouache, inks, torn papers, colored pencils, resists, templates and textural elements on paper, canvas or board. In 2004 she won the Best in Show award from the Garden State Watercolor Society Annual Juried Exhibition. In 2005 and 2006 her work was selected to be exhibited in the National Acrylic Painters Association Annual Juried Show and the International Society of Experimental Artists Annual Juried Show. Her work is represented in collections at the Tate Museum, London, England, and the Zhejiang University Museum, Zhejiang, China. Grodsky, a resident of Newton, received her training from Douglass College, where she earned a BA in Fine Arts Education, Maryland Institute of Art and the New Jersey Center for Visual Arts. She is a founding member of Gallery 23 and currently serves as the co-op’s president. Gallery 23, an artist co-op, is located at 23 Main Street, Blairstown.
