‘Soul Cafe' reaches out to seniors

Sparta - The Sparta United Methodist Church will host an orientation for volunteers interested in easing the lonliness of some local senior citizens. “A Soul Cafe” (A Senior Outreach with Unconditional Love/Caring About Forgotten Elderly) is expanding its program, which matches lonely nursing home residents with those who are willing to visit them regularly, usually twice a month. The one-hour orientation for new volunteers will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 7, in room 7 at the Sparta United Methodist Church, room 7.
