Sowinski Sullivan to renovate Madison Hotel

  SPARTA-Sowinski Sullivan Architects has been commissioned and work is well underway at the famed Madison Hotel to convert five guest rooms into one board room and three meeting rooms to provide enhanced services to clientele. The custom design will be in keeping with the hotel's Victorian style architecture and traditional ambiance. All of interior trappings are custom designed and fabricated, according to Suzanne Sowinski, RA and principal, of the Sparta firm. She noted that the custom-designed cherry wall paneling is particularly "smart" and "reflective of The Madison Hotel's old-world charm". The architects selected all of the finishes, including carpeting, lighting, acoustical ceilings and wall treatments. The firm also chose the furniture and designed window treatments. While enhancing the new rooms with distinctive fittings, the architects also incorporated necessary accoutrements for modern business equipment, i.e., high-speed Internet access and audio-visual equipment, etc. The Madison Hotel is adjacent to the Convent Station stop of the NJ Transit Midtown Direct station and is also home to Rod's Steak and Seafood Grille. Sowinski Sullivan Architects anticipates that the project will be completed by mid-October.
