Sparta Arts offers young filmmakers a chance for a public screening
Sparta Sparta Arts is offering young filmmakers who would like to submit a movie to the “Student Film Festival screening at the Park Series” the chance to have a film screened in front of an audience this summer and win a prize. Students, grades 6 through 12, from all schools, may submit; multiple submissions are welcome. Filmmakers will be grouped and reviewed in grade categories. Commercial submissions: Write it, cast it, shoot it, edit it and submit it. (Video/DVD), 1-minute commercial, plus an introduction to the commercial about the filmmaker and their team n 30 seconds to 1 minute in length. Competition category: Commercials. Write it, cast it, shoot it, edit it and submit it. Categories accepted include: Live above the influence; Education; Life; Respect; Family and friends; and The world. Submission fee for commercial competition is $5. Competition category: Short Films. Write a short film, cast it, shoot it, edit it and submit it. Competition category: Short films. Short films should be 5 minutes long. Video/DVD, plus a 1-minute introduction. Genres accepted include: Comedy; Drama; and Horror. Submission fee for short films competition is $15. Participants should make check or money order payable to: Sparta Township Council, and mail their film (DVD/VHS) along with the fee to: Sparta Arts Cultural Committee, Attention: Student Film Festival (Kim Sky), 65 Main Street Sparta, NJ 07871. In their submission packets film makers should include their name, phone, age, grade, e-mail address, title of commercial or short film, and category or genre selected. Prizes include overnight accommodations at Minerals resort & Spa, Crystal Springs Golf Resort, family day passes and Mountain Creek water park tickets; dance lesson at Dream Extreme Dance Studio in Franklin, N.J.; and acting lessons at Acting Stars in Franklin, N.J. The submission fees are to cover the expenses related to running the film festival. All finalists will be notified in late July.
